HOLYBROOK FESTIVAL 2009

 

The 2009 Holybrook Festival was once again blessed with a glorious day and we estimate that some 2,500 people attended during the afternoon.  A sample of pictures appears below, but for legal reasons we cannot publish photos where children can be identified, so we cannot really show you the vibrancy and flavour of the event in pictures.  Further details are given below.

 

 

 

 

The Holybrook Festival was held on Sunday 28th June between 12pm and 4pm in

Linear Park, Calcot, nr Reading RG31 7AW

This year's festival was a really exciting event with lots of activities in place.  There was a fun fair from Flyte Entertainments, craft stalls, Barnaby Newton's electric organ, dog displays by K9Planet and Furry Foot did two shows and 'Mix and Mingle' also a bouncy castle/face painting and lucky dip as well as Drumming with Workshop.

A circus skills workshop from Circus Scene was present as well as Info - Prime Sports who brought a 24' climbing wall and archery.  Students from Kickfit Martial Arts put on a display plus Kidsafe stranger awareness workshop.  Children had fun on a bouncy castle and Calcot Infants displayed their work and danced in the park.  The Broadway Stage Academy performed at 1pm.  There was a Holybrook Arts and Crafts Cafe exhibition and craft sale and the Neighbourhood Wardens ran a Penalty Shootout.

There was a barbecue, beer tent or refreshments selling tea, coffee and cakes and the Cloverleaf ice-cream van was there.  There was a Gents cake competition - recipe was in the June newsletter. 

There were raffle prizes including a family ticket to the Living Rainforest, a Porsche trolley case and Warings the Bakery vouchers, an iPOD from PC Consultancy, six month membership of the Cotswold Centre, one month's worth of dance lessons for two from Dance Mania, a crystal glass vase and set of wine glasses from Carol Hedges, wine from Waitrose and many more from Friends of Linear Park, Duchess of Kent Trust, Breast Cancer Support, Kickfit and The Pampered Chef. 

Vendors amd promotion - Duchess of Kent Hospice, Brenda Rolls (Hnadmade jewellery), Lorna Webber (Arts and Crafts Community Group, Usborne Books at Home (For babies to teens), June Scott and Judy Woolford (Cakes and cards), Calcot Afternoon WI (Produce stall, cakes, jams and plants), South Chiltern Lions (Tombola), Breast Cancer Support Group (Bric-a-brac and clothing), Friends of Linear Park, Calcot Infants School (Dancing Display), Newbury Volunteer Centre (Volunteers, shopability, car and handibus scheme), Trading Standards (Info about counterfeit goods, scams, letters and doorstep crime), The Pampered Chef, Mr Sherwood (Stick making), Kennet Valley Free Church, Beansheaf Pre-school (Main raffle, bouncy castle and games), Theale Community Craft Group, West Berkshire Children First, West Berkshire Youth Team, Garage Project (Barbecue and Garage Open Day), A Creative Difference, The Crafters Group, The Nicest Thing (Cards, invites, wrapping paper etc), Old Mill Publishing (Greeting cards etc by local artist), Ethical Path (Fairtrade Goods) and other craft stalls.

Goringe Accountants, Angles of Art, Frasers office supplies, County Blinds, G N Maintenance, Abbey Windows, Kennet Valley Association and Social Club and Caversham Solicitors  all advertised in the festival programme.
