Cllr. Mary Bedwell (Chairman)

I have been a parish councillor since 2003, married to Brian who is the West Berkshire Councillor for Calcot Ward. I have spent all my working life in education administration, the last 12 years at Reading College, involved in setting up a new college information management system. Current voluntary work includes trustee for West Berkshire Volunteer Centre, befriender for Age Concern and more recently treasurer for the Holybrook festival. I am keen to see that Calcot remains a vibrant community and to encourage more people to take part in community activities e.g. the new youth club set up by the wardens and the Holybrook festival. Future aspirations include setting up a Lunch Club for our senior citizens and better facilities for young people.

I have lived on Ford's Farm for the past 25 years and am married with 2 teenagers. I have served for 8 years as a school governor at Kennet Valley School before becoming a parish councillor. For over 25 years I sold flavours and food ingredients into the major food processing companies which took me all over the UK and Ireland but I am now home based and looking forward to becoming more involved in the local community, which I've wanted to do for many years. I am also on the committee of the Friends of Linear Park which is a superb and under-rated resource for all Holybrook residents. My main hobby is Heritage Railways and I am one of the 'support crew' for Tangmere, a main line steam locomotive based in London.
