Parish Duties

Holybrook Parish Council is permitted fifteen Councillors who stand for election every four years.

The duties and functions of a parish council are many and varied and also depend, to some extent, on what assets are owned by the parish.

Holybrook Parish Council currently owns and maintains the following assets:

  1. The Beansheaf Community Centre in Calcot which consists of the Parish Office and three halls for hire.
  2. The equipment on the play areas in Underwood Road and next to the Holybrook Community Centre, including the multi-use games area.
  3. Five bus shelters.
  4. Two noticeboards.

The Parish Council pays contractors to empty the rubbish and dog bins and cut the grass in the playgrounds.  The Council also pays a contractor to provide a Parish Warden who performs many and varied duties within the Parish including the cleaning of the bus shelters.  The halls are hired regularly for a wide range of activities, including a community Pre-school, exercise and well-being classes, dog clubs and Guides.
